Liposuction Miami

Liposuction

Commonly shortened to “lipo”, it remains one of the top ten most performed cosmetic procedures today. In Miami, Liposuction is a safe and effective tool in the quest for trim and shapely silhouettes. Dr. Zach’s approach includes select technology that makes fat removal easier and targeted which means greater precision, smaller cannulats, and less bruising for amazing results and faster recovery. There are certain requirements to qualify for Dr. Zach’s approach including body fat percentage and skin laxity.

Liposuction is an amazing tool for body contouring, but make no mistake, it is not a weight loss solution. Removing fat from certain areas, like the waist and lower back, can enhance the body’s natural curves. Targeted fat removal from under the chin, under arms and inner thighs can be done with or without anesthesia, for a less invasive approach to age-defying treatments of trouble areas. Many of our patients have used liposuction as a tool that targets trouble areas, stubborn fat deposits that healthy diet and exercise cannot budge.

How does Liposuction Work?

After we get the consultation sorted away, we can schedule you for an appointment. It’s normal to feel nervous the day of your surgery, so let’s walk through what you can expect so we can ease some of those fears.

Anesthesia

In order to keep you comfortable for the duration of the procedure, we’ll use an anesthetic. Liposuction normally requires very few, small incisions, so local anesthesia to numb those areas is usually more than enough. However, if something like general anesthesia or IV sedation is required, we can discuss that together.
01

Making Incisions

Many people are shocked to learn how small liposuction incisions really are. They just need to be big enough so that a thin hollow tube called a cannula can be inserted. This loosens excess fat, by using suction the fat cells can be removed with a surgical vacuum or syringe.
02

J-Plasma

Sometimes, just removing the fat is enough. However, there is a chance that your skin becomes loose or saggy following the removal of fat. This is especially common for larger fat deposits.

Recovery From Liposuction

Most liposuction procedures are not too invasive, so you should be able to go home the same day. And depending on the treatment areas, the entire procedure can take under two hours. Bandages and compression garments are placed over the incisions, promoting healing, controlling swelling, and allowing your body to adjust to its new contours. In some cases small tubes may be placed under thesskin temporarily to help drain excess fluid.

You can expect to experience some pain near the incision points, inflammation and bruising in the treated areas so consider taking a few days off work and littening your daily load for a bit immediately after your procedure. Dr. Zach may prescribe medication for pain and antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection. You will be provided wtih complete post-operative care instructions and most patients are back to regular daily activities in 2-5 days. Listen to your body – everyone is different.

Liposuction FAQs

The results of your new body contour won’t be immediately noticeable due to swelling and fluid retention at the incision site.

However, the treated area should look less bulky after a few weeks, which will give you a good idea of your new body size. Within months, you can expect to see a much thinner, leaner appearance in the treated area.

Liposuction results are generally permanent. However, natural aging or fluctuations in weight can change your body composition and alter the look of your slimmed appearance.

In some cases, it may require that you come back for a subsequent procedure to get the desired results.

The risks of liposuction do not outweigh the benefits of achieving your best body. Having a thinner, more contoured appearance because of liposuction can make you feel boosted self-confidence, have a better self-image, and bring you a more positive outlook on life in general. Removing pockets of fat that have been leftover after an extreme weight loss can also help you feel the effects of your hard work. Some stubborn fat deposits will remain no matter how you change your diet or lifestyle, so liposuction can help you over the finish line. It can also make you feel more comfortable while wearing certain clothes that fit too snuggly or chafed while performing certain activities. Not to mention, it can make you feel more confident to show off your body on the beach, at the pool, or during intimacy.

Dr. Zach is an experienced plastic surgeon with years of practice. You’re in good hands here. But with any surgical procedure, there is risk of complications or side effects.

The biggest risk with liposuction is that contour irregularities become apparent. Your skin may appear bumpy or wavy due to fat removal, resulting in poor skin elasticity or unusual healing. This may be permanent.

Additionally, there is also risk of temporary numbness in the affected area, as well as infection if the wounds are not properly taken care of. Pockets of fluid (seromas) may also temporarily accumulate under the skin. In some cases, this will need to be drained with a needle.

Although serious complications are rare, we value transparency and want you to know the risks involved. For one, a cannula may penetrate the skin too deeply and puncture an internal organ, which requires immediate medical care. It’s possible that liposuction leads to a fat embolism, which is a serious injury that results from fat becoming trapped in a blood vessel.
